A graduation ceremony was held for students of Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) Junior Division (Jnr Div) Course 69 at Otu Barracks on Thursday 14 June, 2018. The students from 3 different African countries assembled in the College on Monday 5 February 2018 and went through 18 weeks of intensive studies.

In his report during the ceremony, the Assistant Commandant in charge of the Jnr Div, Brigadier General MN Akpatsu said that the Course was made up of 52 students consisting of 37 pers from the Ghana Armed Forces, 2 from National Security, 2 from Bureau of National Investigations, 2 from Ghana Revenue Authority (Customs Division), 2 from the Botswana Defense Force and 7 from the Nigerian Armed Forces. All the students successfully went through the programme.

The Guest of Honour for the occasion was Brigadier General WK Amanie (Retired), a former Assistant Commandant of the College.

In his address Brigadier General WK Amanie urged the graduates to be focused and meticulous in the discharge of their duties as well as show integrity and professionalism wherever they find themselves. He expressed his delight in the enrolment of foreign students and personnel of other security agencies into the Jnr Div Course and looked forward to more collaboration with other stakeholders. He further congratulated the graduates and commended the leadership of the College for a successfully running the course.

The ceremony was attended by Directors from the 3 Services of the Ghana Armed Forces, Senior Officers from sister Security Services, some Defence Advisors/Attaches, families and friends of the graduating students, students of Senior Div Course 39 and some permanent staff of the College. The Commandant of the College, Rear Admiral Seth Amoama conferred the ‘jsc’ degrees on the graduates and presented them with certificates.

Prizes were awarded to some selected deserving graduates for their outstanding performances. In the Assistant Commandant’s Prize Essay, the 1st prize went to Lt (NN) SI Olowookere whilst Flt Lt SA Josephson and Maj N Boahene took the 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively. In the Commandant’s Prize Essay, Capt AO Adebo, Sqn Ldr AS Inusa and Lt (GN) HB Azu were 1st, 2nd and 3rd in that order. Ms AAD Boakye Boateng was adjudged the best among the allied security services students.

In the ultimate prizes, Maj EKA Lumour was the 3rd Best while Flt Lt M Agyenim-Boateng was the 2nd best. The Overall best student award went to Flt Lt SA Josephson.
