OPENING CEREMONY FOR JUNIOR DIVISION STUDENTS

An opening ceremony has been held for students of the GAFCSC Junior Division Staff Course 69. The course which will take place from 2 February 2018 to June 2018 comprises of 52 students made up of 37 Ghanaian students, 7 Nigerian students and 2 Botswana students. There are 5 female students on the course and 6 students from the Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

Welcoming the students, the Assistant Commandant, Brig Gen MK Akpatsu, said the doors of the College were opened for the students and he has astute Directing Staff who were ready to impact their knowledge to the students.

Addressing the students, the Commandant of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Rear Admiral Seth Amoama, welcomed the students to the College and urged them to sacrifice to make their stay in the College worthwhile.
He indicated that the objectives of the Junior Staff Course are to provide the platform for equipping officers to effectively perform the functions of a Grade III Staff Officers, lay a sound foundation for subsequent professional development and perform well in future appointments.
He further told the students that in order to be able to perform such functions effectively, one needs to be proficient in staff procedures as well as understand the basics of the current management practices.

He finally urged the students to be disciplined by abiding by the College regulations at all times. He advised them to be punctual to all functions including lectures and also be appropriately attired throughout the course.
The students will be taken through Service Writing, Research Methods, Experiential Study Tour, Tactical Exercises, among others. The course will be crowned with a final exercise called “Exercise OMBUDSMAN”.
