GAFCSC OPENS 5TH MARITIME SECTOR GOVERNANCE COURSE
The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College(GAFCSC) has held an opening ceremony to commence the 5th Maritime Sector Governance Course for participants of the Senior Command and Staff Course 46 and stakeholders in the Maritime Sector on Monday, 25 November 2024 at the Hamidu Hall, Teshie.
The Course aimed to bring together stakeholders in the Maritime and related industries to share knowledge and expertise on Maritime governance-related issues while helping industry players to understand and take advantage of the opportunities presented by the Blue Economy for National Development.
Speaking at the Ceremony, the Director General of the Narcotics Control Commission who was the Guest of Honor, Mr Kenneth Adu-Amanfoh expressed his appreciation to the Commandant, Major General Matthew Essien and the entire College fraternity for honoring him as the Guest of Honour.
Mr Adu-Amanfoh mentioned that the objectives of the Course would seek to create awareness among stakeholders about the vast resources potential and the necessary requirements for monitoring, controlling and surveilling of the maritime domain to help in identifying the capabilities required to manage the domain.
He stated that it is important to identify and define the roles and capabilities of the various stakeholders in an effective and efficient management of the maritime domain. He added that the course would enable all stakeholders to also appreciate the magnitude of each other’s contribution towards the management of resources within the country’s maritime domain including inland waters.
He encouraged participants to take the Course seriously to enhance and deepen their knowledge to benefit their various institutions and services. He applauded all the participants for taking part in the Course and urged them to see it as an opportunity to understand and to take advantage of the opportunities which would be presented by Blue Economy for National Development.
