The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Vice Admiral Seth Amoama, has paid a maiden working visit to the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) on Thursday 22 April 2021. The Commandant of the College, Rear Admiral Moses Beick-Baffour, welcomed the CDS and congratulated him on his appointment as the CDS and his subsequent promotion to the rank of Vice-Admiral. The Director of Research and Development, Colonel Tim Bataabana, briefed the CDS on behalf of the Commandant and the entire College. Areas covered in the briefing included the vision of the College, reviewed organisational structure, integrated programmes as well as the College expansion programme. Other areas were administration and logistics matters, the 5-Year Strategic Plan of the College, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the activities of the College, and the way forward.

Accompanying the CDS were the Directors General Personnel Administration, Medical, Legal Services, and the Military Assistant, the Gender Policy adviser as well as a representative of the Department of Logistics.  The Commandant led the CDS and his entourage in touring the facilities of the College at the end of which the CDS joined the Commandant and officers of the College for lunch at the Fletcher Mess.

It is worth noting that the CDS is the immediate past Commandant of GAFCSC and that he handed over to the current Commandant, Rear Admiral Beick-Baffour, before taking up the appointment of Chief of the Naval Staff and subsequently becoming the CDS. It was a joyous moment for the Commandant and the entire College to have Vice Admiral Amoama keep close contact with the College and visiting to abreast himself of the current activities and challenges of GAFCSC.
