Sixty Officers of the Junior Staff Course (JSC) 74 of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) graduated on Friday 18 December 2020. The students comprised officers from the armed forces of The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and Sierra Leone. According to the Assistant Commandant of the Junior Division, Brigadier General Albert Dawohoso, in spite of the challenges presented by COVID-19 which necessitated alterations in the programme, JSC 74 was successfully organized. He acknowledged with gratitude, the various forms of assistance rendered to the Junior Division in the areas of training and logistics during the period. He was appreciative of the continued commitment and support from all the departments and directorates of the General Headquarters, especially from General Headquarters (Training) and all the training and logistics support units of the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
The Guest of Honour for the ceremony, Major General Richard Opoku-Adusei (Retired), a former Chief of the Army Staff, iterated that he was convinced that the course had afforded students the opportunity to broaden their professional and general perspectives on matters of both national and international dimensions. He commended the College for inviting resource persons and subject matter experts to deliver lectures to students on campus as the Environmental Studies Tour was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He reminded students of current and emerging threats posed by transnational organized crimes such as child and drug trafficking, cybercrime, and terrorism, among others, which seemed to be overshadowed by the pandemic. He added that the threats required a multifaceted approach as no single institution could successfully handle all of them. He was convinced that the knowledge acquired on the course would put the students in a better position to appreciate and effectively manage the multi-dimensional challenges that they were bound to face in their careers. The overall best student award went to Captain C Asamoah of the Ghana Army.
