A colourful graduation ceremony was held for students of Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) Junior Division (Jnr Div) Course 71 at Otu Barracks on Friday 14 June, 2019. The Junior Staff Course 71 had 52 students consisting of 40 from Ghana Armed Forces, 2 each from Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Ghana Immigration Service and National Security Secretariat, 2 from Botswana Defence Forces and 4 from the Armed Forces of Nigeria. The students went through 18 weeks of intensive studies. The Guest of Honour for the occasion was Brigadier General Adjertey Annan (Retired).

In his address Brigadier General Annan urged the graduates to be focused and meticulous in the discharge of their duties as well as show integrity and professionalism wherever they will be deployed. He expressed his delight in the continuous enrolment of foreign students and personnel of other security agencies into the Jnr Div Course and looked forward to more collaboration with other stakeholders. He indicated that the involvement of foreign students in the Junior Division Course gives it the international tang it deserves. He further congratulated the graduates and commended the leadership of the College for successfully running the course.

The ceremony was attended by General Officer Commanding Southern Command, Brig Gen AY Nsiah, Commander Army Training Command (ATRAC), Brig Gen MM Aryee, Director General Training at the General Headquarters, the Base Commander of the Airforce Base, Accra and the Directors of Training from the 3 Services of the Ghana Armed Forces. Also in attendance were Senior Officers from sister Security Services, some Defence Advisors/Attaches, families and friends of the graduating students, students of Senior Div Course 40 and some permanent staff of the College.

The Commandant of the College, Rear Admiral Moses Beick-Baffour conferred the ‘jsc’ degrees on the graduates and presented them with certificates.

Prizes were given to some selected deserving graduates for their outstanding performances. In the Assistant Commandant’s Prize Essay, the 1st prize went to Capt OA Ochaba of the Nigerian Army whilst Maj FO Essel of the Ghana Army and Sqn Ldr V Asiedu of the Ghana Airforce took the 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively.
In the Commandant’s Prize Essay, Lt (GN) GKM Nibo, Capt EM Asiamah, and Maj EA Donkoh were 1st, 2nd and 3rd in that order.
Assistant Revenue Officer (ARO) DS Akpaku was adjudged the best among the allied security services students whilst the best-allied student prize went to Capt OA Ochaba of the Nigerian Army.
