A 10-member delegation of the Retired Commission Officers Association (RCOA) paid a courtesy call on the Commandant of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), on Thursday 9 March 2023.

The leader of the delegation who is also the President of the RCOA, Brig Gen S Yanyi-Akofur (Rtd) stated that the purpose of the courtesy call was to introduce themselves as the newly elected Executive Committee members of the Association and to strengthen the relationship between RCOA and GAFCSC. The president also disclosed the Association’s plan to renovate some areas of the 37 Military Hospital which are mostly patronized by veterans and appealed for donations to that effect.

Addressing the delegation, the Commandant, Maj Gen Irvine Aryeetey lauded the Association’s 37 Military Hospital renovation project and assured them of the College’s support. He also took the opportunity to update them on current developments in the college, which include plans underway to run a PhD program with its initial target being the Directing Staff of the college. He further spoke about the establishment of a war college which will commence in July 2023.

The occasion was also used to discuss possible areas of mutual benefit between the RCOA and GAFCSC. These include research and development, lectures, and fieldwork.
