
CHIEF OF THE DEFENCE STAFF PAYS MAIDEN VISIT TO GAFCSC
The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) William Agyapong, paid a maiden visit to the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) on Monday, 9 June 2025, at Teshie, Otu Barracks.
The visit aimed to familiarise the CDS with the College's curricula, infrastructural development and challenges. It was also to engage with the college staff since assuming office.
The Acting Commandant, Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Jackson Wonje, who received CDS and his entourage, welcomed and expressed gratitude to CDS, as his presence marked a significant moment for the College to reinforce its strong commitment to professional military education, capacity building for civil society and the operational effectiveness of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
Brig Gen Wonje mentioned that the visit came at a time when the College is evolving to meet the complex demands of 21st century warfare, characterized by multi-domain threats.
He expressed his confidence in the CDS for his guidance and strategic vision in enhancing efforts to reshape the curriculum and training methodologies to meet these challenges.
The Acting Commandant reaffirmed the College's dedication to excellence and assured CDS of his support as he steers GAF to greater heights.
The Chief of Defence Staff, Lt Gen Agyapong, applauded the College for its managerial strategy amidst challenges. He praised the College for maintaining its reputation as a centre of excellence and urged the College to explore partnerships to sustain its operations.
He emphasised the importance of maintaining a core focus on developing personnel at the operational level and cautioned against prioritising academic pursuits at the expense of military standards.
