Positions

Job Title: Senior Lecturer/Lecturer

Job Summary:

The Senior Lecturer will be accountable to the Dean / Director of Academic Affairs through the Head of Department (HoD) and will be responsible for teaching, research, community service, supervising students' research, and mentoring younger academics. The successful candidate will contribute to the attainment of academic excellence and reputation of the College.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching:

1. Submit detailed teaching plans, including teaching and learning outcomes, objectives, weekly outlines, resources required, and assessment modes to the HoD three weeks before the start of each semester,

2. Teach a minimum of 12 credit hours per week.

3. Organize at least two interim assessments and an end-of-semester examination for graduate students,

4. Develop examination questions, mark, grade, and record student assessments and examinations according to College policies and procedures, and invigilate during examinations,

5. Submit reports to the HoD indicating observations and recommendations for improving teaching and learning.

6. Recommend relevant books for purchase/acquisition in liaison with the Librarian.

Research, Publication, and Supervision

1. Undertake research and publish at least one article per year in a top-tier journal.

2. Collaborate with younger academics to publish research articles in top-tier journals.

3. Assist in reviewing research articles for the College's Academic Journal.

4. Supervise and assess postgraduate students’ research and submit reports to the HoD.

 

Community Service and Other Responsibilities

1. Deliver at least one public or extension activity each semester.

2. 3. Serve on various academic committees and actively participate in meetings.

4. Undertake other duties associated with the role.

 

Position Requirements:

Senior Lecturer

1.    Earned a Ph.D. degree in the relevant field from a recognized institution.

2.    Be a Senior Lecturer at the time of applying for this position.

3.    Have a minimum of six (6) years post-qualification teaching and research experience in analogous institution(s).

4.    Have a minimum of eight (8) publications, relevant to their areas of expertise, in reputable journals.

5.    Demonstrate evidence of continuous research and ability to supervise postgraduate students.

 

Lecturer

1.    Earned a Ph.D. degree in the relevant field from a recognized institution.

2.    Be a Lecturer at the time of applying for this position.

3.    Have a minimum of three (3) years post-qualification teaching and research experience in analogous institution(s).    

4.    Have a minimum of four (4) publications, relevant to their areas of expertise, in reputable journals.

5.    Demonstrate evidence of continuous research and ability to supervise postgraduate students
