COMDT GAFCSC VISITS CHIEF JUSTICE OF GHANA
The Commandant of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), Major General Matthew Essien, visited the Chief Justice of Ghana, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Torkornoo, at her office in Accra on Thursday, 20 June 2024. The purpose of the visit was to formally invite the Chief Justice to the Republic Day Public Lecture scheduled for July 1, 2024, at the College in Teshie.
The Commandant emphasized that the Chief Justice's presence would significantly strengthen the relationship between the two institutions. He also appealed to the Chief Justice to allow some judges to contribute to the College's programs, offering valuable legal perspectives to broaden the student's learning environment. This interdisciplinary approach would ensure that future military leaders are well-versed in the legal implications of their actions, better preparing them for contemporary and future warfare challenges.
In her response, Her Ladyship praised the idea of interdisciplinary collaboration, noting that it would greatly benefit both institutions in fulfilling their Constitutional mandates. She assured the Commandant that she would try her best to attend the Public Lecture on the scheduled date.
The Commandant was accompanied by the Chief Coordinator, Colonel Maxwell Mantey, and the Chief Instructor, Academic Affairs, Junior Division, Colonel Dominic Boah.
