
COMMANDANT GAFCSC LAUNCHES A BOOK AUTHORED BY MAJ GEN EK SAM (RTD)
The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), ably represented by the Commandant of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), Major General Matthew Essien, chaired the launch of a book entitled ‘The Path of an Army General: How I Served My Country Ghana’ on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Burma Hall, Accra.
The book was authored by Major General Edwin Kwamina Sam (Rtd), a former CDS of the Ghana Armed Forces and member of the Council of State during the Presidency of HE President JA Kufour. The book highlighted the author’s experiences and lessons learned, particularly during his military career. It also offers a leadership template for future military officers.
The Commandant who launched the book on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Oppong-Peprah, expressed his deep appreciation to everyone who contributed to making the book a reality as well as bringing the author’s vision to life. He emphasized the inspiration behind the book and provided insight into the creative journey, not to mention the countless hours of dedication, creativity, and passion that resulted in an outstanding manuscript.
He encouraged all to inculcate the experiences enumerated in the book with the view of harnessing its usefulness for future endeavors. Brig Gen DK Frimpong (Rtd), who reviewed the book, called on the audience to endure the spirit of creativity, get a copy of the book, and read it to grasp the experiences and virtues portrayed by the author.
Maj Gen EK Sam (Rtd), the author of the book, also remarked by expressing his deep gratitude to the audience present at the book launch, especially the Special Guest of Honor, HE John Agyekum Kufuor, for gracing the event with his presence. He also extended the same sentiments to all key stakeholders who played various but significant roles in bringing his dream book and legacy to reality.
He reminisced on key moments from his service in the Ghana Armed Forces and shared the inspirations behind writing the book. He encouraged everyone to get a copy in order to harness the valuable insights and lessons the book offers for our daily lives.
