
ECOWAS COMMISSION DELEGATION VISITS GAFCSC
A delegation from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission has paid a working visit to the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) on Friday, 1 August at the Headquarters in Teshie.
The visit was to congratulate Brigadier General Jackson Wonje on his appointment as Acting Commandant and to discuss the Africa Peace and Security Architecture (APSA) Support Programme.
The Programmes Officer for the ECOWAS Peace Fund, Madame Gloria Ugwunze who led the team noted that the initiative is tailored to facilitate Peace Support Training and provide capitalisation for selected institutions.
She revealed plans to produce a documentary highlighting the ECOWAS Commission’s achievements in collaboration with GAFCSC and eight other training institutions. She added that the visit forms part of ECOWAS’ broader strategy to implement Peace Support Operations Training and to document progress made through partnerships within Ghana and beyond.
Brigadier General Wonje expressed gratitude to the ECOWAS Commission for their unwavering support. He reaffirmed GAFCSC’s commitment to making effective use of the resources provided to strengthen collaboration with ECOWAS in promoting regional peace and security.
