GAFCSC CLOSES DEFENCE MANAGEMENT COURSE 2023

A brief closing ceremony was held at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) on Friday 7 July 2023 to mark the end of the Defence Management Course 2023.

The 2-week Course was aimed at exposing uniformed and civilian personnel working within the security sector to the issues, principles, and techniques relevant to improving the governance and management of the defence and security sectors. The course consisted of students of Senior Command and Staff Course 44 and external participants drawn from sister Security Services, Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

In her closing address, the Vice Chairperson of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Defence and Interior, Honourable (Hon) Ophelia Mensah Hayford who was the Guest of Honour at the ceremony emphasized the crucial nature of the Course. She indicated that Ghana could not downplay the significance of defence and security management in the midst of increasing sophistication and the illusive nature of threats in our part of the world.

She commended GAFCSC for incorporating innovative programs into its curriculum and for bringing together state agencies to study and find solutions to important national issues. She also applauded the college for implementing practical programs like the Defence Management Course to bridge the gap between theory and practice.

Hon Ophelia Mensa congratulated the course participants for exhibiting exceptional resilience and determination throughout the rigorous program and added that it was a testament to their unwavering dedication to serving their respective nations.

Present at the ceremony were the Commandant GAFCSC Major General Irvine Nii Ayitey Aryeetey, Deputy Commandant Brigadier General Abass Seidu, and other Senior Staff of the College.
