GAFCSC ENDS CT/ CIED COURSE 2024
The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) has climaxed its two-day Counter Terrorism/Counter Improvised Explosive Device (CT/CIED) Course 2024. The Course was organized from Monday 29 to Tuesday 30 July 2024 at the College for students of Senior Command and Staff Course 45 and external participants from sister security agencies.
The Course was aimed at training and improving the understanding of officers at the operational level in a joint, multi-national/interagency planning to appropriately deal with violent extremism and terrorist situations. Resource persons for the Course were subject matter experts drawn from the field and academia.
Major General (Maj Gen) Matthew Essien, the Guest of Honour and Commandant of the College, in his closing remarks, expressed his deep gratitude to the Directing Staff, resource persons, and all for contributing to the success of the Course.
He emphasized that the fight against terrorism and the threat of improvised explosive device requires constant vigilance, adaptability, and a united front.
He also urged all participants to remain committed and apply the lessons learned from the Course. He further eulogised the participants for their cooperation and hard work throughout the programme.
Highlights of the Course included Improvise Explosive Devices/Detection Techniques, Combating Terrorism in the Sub-Region using Kinetic and Non-Kinetic Approaches, Role of the Police in CT and Countering Violent Extremist(s). The Course activities were concluded with a Seminar.
