The Academic Division of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) has held its 20th matriculation ceremony for students of the Master of Science in Defence and International Politics (MDIP) and Master of Science in Security Studies (MSS) on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Teshie.

A total of 36 students, made up of 30 from MDIP and 6 from MSS, officially enrolled in the college to pursue their academic goals.

In his welcome address, the Deputy Commandant of the College, Brig Gen. WA Seidu, entreated matriculants to acknowledge their commitment to higher education, by recognizing the dedication and hard work that had brought them this far, which also symbolizes the birth of a transformative phase in their lives.

He pointed out that the journey was both challenging and rewarding, and it was a testament to the student's perseverance. He assured the students that the knowledge and skills they had acquired would have a lasting impact on their careers and personal lives.

He also hoped and wished that their partnership with GIMPA would continue with the establishment of the National Defence University (NDU), which would mark the beginning of their autonomous status and journey as one of the colleges under the umbrella of the NDU.

The Deputy Rector at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), who was the Guest of Honor for the ceremony, mentioned that pursuing a graduate programme requires a significant investment of time and money. She added that these two could be intimidating and exciting as they inform one's long-term professional decision.

Dr. Akonnor emphasized the vital importance of zeal, determination, hope, and the cultivation of networks among peers. She underscored the significance of these qualities in navigating the challenges and seizing the opportunities that lie ahead for the graduates.

The address concluded with a resounding call to action, inspiring the matriculants to embark on their future endeavours with passion, purpose, and a steadfast commitment to excellence.
