GAFCSC HOLDS INDUCTION RELIGIOUS SERVICE FOR SENIOR COMMAND AND STAFF COURSE 47
The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) on Sunday, 5 October 2025, held an induction religious service for students of Senior Command and Staff Course 47 (SCSC 47) in Hamidu Hall, Otu Barracks, Teshie. The service, which commenced at 0900 hours, was held under the theme: “Building Leaders of Integrity and Service.”
The event brought together faculty, directing staff, students and guests to seek divine guidance and strength for the course ahead, emphasising the spiritual and moral foundation required of military leadership. Delivering the first sermon, Major M. Alhassan, the Imam, spoke passionately on the theme, highlighting qualities that hinder effective leadership. He cautioned participants against pride, arrogance, weak determination and failure to consult when the need arises. He stressed that true leadership requires humility and the willingness to engage others constructively, especially in the office, ensuring teamwork.
The Chaplain, Lieutenant Colonel N. Boahen, expounded on the same theme. He emphasised that leaders must strive to be vessels of honour, useful to their organisations and pleasing before God. Using the example of Daniel, he urged officers to uphold integrity, faithfulness and discipline even in the face of adversity.
The Guest of Honour, Honorable Hilton John Mitchell, CEO and Managing Director of Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), commended GAFCSC for nurturing leaders who combine professional competence with moral uprightness. He underscored that integrity remains the cornerstone of true leadership, urging the course participants to lead with humility, compassion and a strong sense of service to humanity and the nation.
The induction service reaffirmed GAFCSC’s commitment to developing leaders who embody spiritual discipline, moral strength and faith-driven service. It served as a solemn reminder that the journey of leadership begins with integrity, humility and unwavering devotion to God and country.
