
GAFCSC HOLDS JOINT MATRICULATION FOR PHD/MDIP/MSS/PGDDSS STUDENTS
The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) on Wednesday, 1 October 2025, held a joint matriculation for students of its PhD, Regular MDIP, and MSS/PGDDSS programmes at Hamidu Hall, Otu Barracks. The matriculation, which commenced at 1100 hours, formally welcomed newly admitted students into the academic community of the College.
In his welcome address, the Acting Commandant of GAFCSC, Brigadier General Jackson Wonje, congratulated the matriculants and reminded them that their admission was an opportunity and a responsibility. He called on the students to pursue their studies with discipline and dedication, stressing that meeting the College’s academic and moral standards were vital to their growth.
Brigadier General Wonje further emphasised the importance of unity and teamwork, urging the students to uphold togetherness as they serve “God and country.” He noted that GAFCSC’s legacy has always been built on shared values of sacrifice, integrity and service. He encouraged the matriculants to embody those principles within and beyond the College.
The Guest of Honour, AVM Adom Asante, PhD, President of National Defence University (NDU), also addressed the gathering. He advised the matriculants to plan their academic activities carefully, anticipate challenges and remain resilient in navigating their journey. He noted that higher learning is a path of opportunity and difficulty. He called on the students to remain innovative and focused, emphasing that “Your matriculation is not only a ceremonial rite of passage but a call to excellence”. The President of NDU entreated the students to plan ahead, access challenges with clarity and sail through them with determination. He indicated that such efforts will help them to succeed as individuals and contribute meaningfully to Ghana and the wider global community.”
In attendance at the matriculation were faculty, senior military officers and staff of GAFCSC. The atmosphere was one of excitement and pride as students recited the matriculation oath, formally sealing their commitment to the College’s values.
The joint matriculation underscored GAFCSC’s dedication to combining academic rigor with professional military education, equipping its students to become transformational leaders for national and international service. It also reinforced the College’s status a Centre of Excellence.
