GAFCSC HOLDS MATRICULATION FOR STUDENTS OF COURSE 45

GAFCSC on Thursday, 28 September, 2023, held a matriculation ceremony for the 2023/24 Masters programme for Senior Command and Staff Course 45 at the Hamidu Hall.

The matriculation ceremony signalled the commencement of an 11-month academic journey for 98 students from the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and the Armed Forces of Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, The Gambia, Guinea, La Cote D’Ivoire, Liberia and Malawi. Other countries represented are Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Togo and Zambia.

This rigorous 11-month programme is designed to equip selected middle and senior-level officers of GAF, other security services, qualified civilians, and officers from friendly armed forces with the skills necessary for command, staff, and leadership roles in joint, combined, and multi-agency operations.

 

In an address at the ceremony, Dr.  Yaw Appiah- Marfo, a representative of the Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), emphasized that students would be expected to cultivate analytical thinking, strive diligently to acquire critical thinking skills, and adeptly engage in research using various techniques applicable to their coursework.

Dr Appiah-Marfo highlighted the significance of the dissertation as a pivotal component leading to the award of the Master’s Degree. He stressed the importance of students contributing substantially to the realm of knowledge through their research endeavours, to address pertinent issues in the domains of security and defence.

The matriculation ceremony was graced by the presence of high-ranking military and civilian dignitaries, including the Commandant GAFCSC, Maj Gen Irvine Nii-Ayittey Aryeetey, Brig Gen WA Seidu (Deputy Commandant, GAFCSC), Dr Napoleon Kurantin (Vice Dean, GAFCSC), Chief Instructors, and Directing Staff, among others.
