GAFCSC OPENS DEFENCE MANAGEMENT COURSE 2025

The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) held an opening ceremony for a two-week Defence Management Course 2025 for the Senior Command and Staff Course 46 on Monday, 30 June 2025, at the Hamidu Hall in Teshie Otu Barracks.

The course aimed to expose uniformed and civilian personnel working within the security sector to the issues, principles, and techniques relevant to improving the governance and management of the defence and security sector.

In the opening address, the Guest of Honour and Chief Executive Officer of Quality Insurance Company Limited, Mr. Francis Kobena Addison, stated that the role of defence management has been more critical in an era defined by rapid technological advancements, shifting geographical landscapes and evolving threats.

He mentioned that the world is interconnected and the complexities being faced require strategic foresight, innovative thinking and collaborative approaches.

Mr. Francis Kobena Addison added that the students' engagement with experts, participation in simulations and exploration of case studies would challenge their thinking and broaden their understanding of Defence Management.

He encouraged the students to embrace the spirit of inquiry, collaboration and critical thinking, adopting the habit of asking questions, sharing perspectives and learning from one another.

Mr. Addison urged the students to consider the ethical dimension of their roles and how Defence Management is not just about strategy and logistics but about the people they serve, protect and those who depend on them for security.

He further urged them to let their integrity and accountability guide their actions as they strive to create a safer and more secure world.
