The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), Senior Command and Staff Course (SCSC) 47, has held an opening ceremony for the Defence Management Course (DMC) at Hamidu Hall, Teshie, on Monday, 13 July 2026.
The course is aimed at enhancing participants' understanding of defence management principles, defence policy formulation and the role of inter agency collaboration in addressing security challenges.

The Guest of Honour, Major (Maj) Dr Joseph Bikanyi Kuyon (Rtd), Director General (DG) of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), in his opening address, urged participants to recognise the importance of inter agency collaboration in addressing contemporary defence and security challenges. He noted that the changing nature of global security threats required comprehensive and multidimensional approaches involving various Ministries, Departments and Agencies, as well as security institutions, to ensure effective management of defence and security issues.

Major Dr Kuyon (Rtd) stated that the course would provide a platform for participants from sister security, Ministries, Departments and Agencies to share knowledge, exchange ideas and deepen their understanding of defence management. He encouraged participants to take advantage of the two week course by engaging in meaningful discussions, appreciating each other's roles and responsibilities, and strengthening partnerships towards national and regional security. He expressed confidence that the knowledge and experiences gained would enhance their capacity to contribute effectively to defence and security management in their respective institutions.

As a token of appreciation for his contribution and support towards the Defence Management Course 2026, a plaque was presented to Major Dr Joseph Bikanyi Kuyon (Rtd) by the College.
