GAFCSC SCSC 47 CONDUCTS EXERCISE MOFIAMO

GAFCSC SCSC 47 CONDUCTS EXERCISE MOFIAMO

The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) Senior Command and Staff Course (SCSC) 47 has conducted its flagship capstone exercise, Exercise MOFIAMO, from Monday 16 March to Friday 27 March 2026. The two-week exercise forms part of the Single Service theme for Term Two and brought together students from the Army, Navy, and Air Force to plan and execute a simulated military operation. The exercise was based on a carefully formulated scenario involving an aggressor invasion of Ghana, requiring coordinated operational responses from all three arms of service.

Exercise MOFIAMO provided a practical platform for participants to apply theoretical and tactical knowledge in a realistic operational environment. Students were tasked with developing strategic and tactical plans, issuing operational orders, and coordinating joint efforts to achieve mission success. Each service component worked collaboratively with other services through their liaison officer to ensure an integrated approach to the simulated operation, reflecting the complexities of modern military engagements.

A key feature of the exercise was the extensive preparation and organization undertaken by the participants. This included the construction of operational models, detailed map marking, and the establishment of fully functional operations rooms to simulate real-time command centres. In addition, the logistics component played a critical role by delivering comprehensive briefs on supply chain management and sustainment requirements necessary to support the operation.

The exercise also emphasized the importance of communication and public engagement through structured media interactions. Participants engaged in simulated media encounters, enhancing their skills in handling press briefings and public information dissemination. Overall, Exercise MOFIAMO achieved its objective of equipping students with practical experience in operational command, staff responsibilities, and media relations, thereby preparing them for leadership roles within the Ghana Armed Forces and other Allied Forces in Africa.
