The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), Senior Command and Staff Course (SCSC) 48, has climaxed its Army Week, held from Monday, 12 October to Friday, 16 October 2026, with a Tactical Exercise Without Troops (TEWT) at Bundase. The exercise focused on the application of the seven questions of the Army combat estimate in operational planning.
The exercise was designed to enable participants to apply combat estimate principles to a simulated operational scenario, requiring them to analyse the situation, assess operational requirements and develop appropriate responses without the physical deployment of troops.

As part of the exercise, participants underwent map orientation and ground orientation sessions, which focused on how to orientate troops to an area of operation, interpret terrain, and deliver effective briefings. The sessions also covered procedures for conducting orientation using maps and on the actual ground. Participants were subsequently organised into syndicates and sub-syndicates to work through the operational scenario and address the requirements presented at each stage of the combat estimate. The activity required them to apply the seven questions systematically to assess the situation and develop appropriate operational responses.
The exercise climaxed a week of activities designed to expose participants to the organisation, capabilities and employment of the Army in land combat operations.

As part of the exercise, participants were taken through lectures on artillery in battle, armour in battle, engineers in battle, electrical and mechanical engineering support in battle. The lectures examined the roles of the various Army units and how they contribute to the planning and execution of military operations.
Participants also undertook syndicate activities on the structure of Army formations and battle groups, with emphasis on the combat, combat support and combat service support elements. The sessions examined the composition and responsibilities of the different elements, including the role of infantry within the combat element and how the various capabilities are organised to achieve operational objectives.

As part of this, participants will witness a live demonstration of Land Combat Power on 30 Oct 26 to get a clear understanding of how The Army operates.
