VISIT OF THE CHIEF OF THE ARMY STAFF TO GAFCSC
On Thursday, 17 October 2024, the Chief of the Army Staff, (COAS), Major General Bismarck Kwasi Onwona visited the College, delivered a lecture on his vision for the Ghana Army and interacted with students of Senior Command and Staff Course 46 at the Hamidu Hall. The COAS was accompanied by some principal staff officers from the Army Headquarters who supported the COAS in delivering his vision to the students. The visit of the COAS to the College was part of activities slated to mark the Army Combat Power Week which is very salient on the students’ academic calendar.
During the COAS presentation to the students, he stated that his vision for the Ghana Army, was to “Keep the Army as a part of the Ghana Armed Forces as a cohesive, motivated and well-rounded force in order to execute its roles and responsibilities professionally in protecting the territorial integrity of Ghana”. He added that the Ghana Army's roles and mission are accompanied by a strategic plan for accomplishing its goals. He continued that plan were far advanced and in motion to provide effective training, administration and welfare packages for the entire Army personnel at all levels.
During the interaction session of the COAS visit, he highlighted that, there was the need for effective training for all personnel which will result in reinforcing the professionalism and dedication imbibed in our future military leaders as they discharge of their respective duties. He further acknowledged the salient role of GAFCSC in shaping the knowledge of such capable officers for national security challenges. He entreated the students to seize the opportunity provided by the College, learn as much as they could and use the knowledge gained to mould their career paths in their respective Armed Forces.
The COAS concluded his visit to the College by presenting an undisclosed amount of cash donation to support the College's infrastructural developments. The Commandant, Staff and Students of the College were very grateful to the COAS for his memorious visit to the College.
