DEPUTY MINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS PAYS COURTESY CALL ON GAFCSC COMMANDANT

The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Member of Parliament for Assin North, Honorable (Hon.) James Gyakye Quayson, paid a courtesy call on the Commandant of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) on Wednesday, 19 August 2026, at the College in Otu Barracks, Teshie.

The visit formed part of efforts to strengthen collaboration and foster closer relations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ghana Armed Forces, particularly in areas of strategic leadership, diplomacy and national security.

During the visit, Hon. Quayson interacted with the Commandant and senior officers of the College on issues of mutual interest, with emphasis on the important role of professional military education in preparing officers to respond effectively to emerging national, regional and international security challenges.

The Deputy Minister commended the College for its contribution to the professional development of military officers and its role in promoting strategic thinking, leadership and cooperation among officers from Ghana and Allied countries.

The Commandant of GAFCSC, Major General (Maj Gen) Jackson Wonje, welcomed and expressed appreciation to the Deputy Minister for his visit and underscored the importance of closer collaboration between the two institutions.

He highlighted the College's commitment to providing quality professional military education and developing officers with the knowledge and skills required to contribute meaningfully to national, regional and international peace and security.

The engagement also provided an opportunity for both institutions to share perspectives on Ghana's foreign policy, regional security and the evolving global security environment.

The visit ended with an assurance of continued engagement and cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and GAFCSC in areas of mutual interest.
