Overview
The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College, established in 1963, is an accredited institution by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission. In partnership with GIMPA, it offers graduate programmes focused on military, security, and international affairs.
Graduate Programmes
GAFCSC offers two flagship master’s degree programmes:
- Master of Science in Defence and International Politics (MDIP)
- Master of Science in Security Studies (MSS)
These programmes prepare professionals for roles in defence, security, and international relations and draw students from both military and civilian backgrounds.
PhD Pathway
The PhD in Defence and International Politics is a four-year programme focused on analytical development in national and international security with a strong emphasis on original research.
Admissions and Enquiries
Master’s programmes: a bachelor’s degree at second class lower or better, plus a statement of career objectives. Applicants with relevant professional experience are encouraged to apply.
PhD programme: a relevant master’s degree and a research proposal of at least 1,500 words.
