Brig Gen Albert Kwadwo Dawohoso was born on 4th February, 1965 in Monkra, Krachi West District of the Oti Region. He attended Krachi Senior High and Prempeh College where he obtained his General Certificate of Education, Ordinary and Advance Levels respectively. He continued to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science Technology where he graduated with BA (Hons) in Social Sciences in 1989. He was enlisted into the Ghana Military Academy in 1990 as part of Regular Intake 32. By dint of hard work and academic excellence, he was selected to continue his training at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst in the UK. He was commissioned into the Infantry Corps in 1992 and posted to the 3rd Infantry Battalion in Sunyani.
Later in his career, Brig Gen AK Dawohoso also obtained a law degree (LLB), a post graduate diploma in Defence and Conflict Studies as well as two Master’s degrees in International Relations and Diplomacy, and Human Resource Development. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate degree in Leadership in 2015 by the Technological University of the Americas.
Brig Gen Dawohoso in his career, has attended a number of local and foreign military courses. Some of the local courses includes the Young Officer’s Course, Mechanical Transport Officers Course, Jungle Expert and Instructors Course, Junior Staff Course and Combat Team Commander’s Course among others. The notable foreign courses includes Command and Senior Staff Course in Jaji, Nigeria, Battalion Commander’s Course in Nanjing China, Peacekeeping Course for African Partners in New Delhi, India, Stabilization and Reconstruction Course in Garmisch Partenkirchen, in Germany, Mentoring in Crisis Management in Lisbon, Portugal and Sector Commanders Course in Entebbe, Uganda.
The General has held many Training, Staff and Command appointments in the Ghana Armed Forces. Notable among them includes Adjutant, Platoon Commander, Military Intelligence Officer, Company Commander, Second in Command and Chief Instructor of the Jungle Warfare School.
He was Assistant Command Operations Officer at the Central Command Headquarters in Kumasi and later the Second in Command and Commanding Officer of the 2nd Infantry Battalion in Takoradi. He served as a Directing Staff and Chief Coordinator at the Ghana Armed Force Command and Staff College. He also served as a Course Director and the Director of Training at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre. Before his current appointment, he was the Assistant Commandant of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (Junior Division).
Brig Gen Dawohoso has had a wide range of peacekeeping experience since 1994. He served in UNAMIR in Rwanda in 1994, UNIFIL in Lebanon in 1996, 1999, 2012, ECOMOG in Liberia in 1998, MINURSO in Western Sahara in 2004, MONUC in DR Congo in 2008, UNMIL in Liberia in 2009, and MINUSMA in Mali in 2015. He was the Sector North Commander in UNMISS, South Sudan from 2017 - 2018.
The General, aside the Military, is into Commercial Farming. He was adjudged the overall best farmer for the La Dade-Kotopon Municipality in the Greater Accra Region in 2022.
He is a Catholic and married with kids. His hobbies includes socializing, keeping fit and listening to gospel music.
