CDS VISITS GAFCSC

The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah, has paid a visit to the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) on Thursday, 18 July, 2024, at Teshie Ridge.

 

As part of the visit, the CDS toured the college and was briefed on the challenges facing the college, including logistical, training, administrative, and operational matters. He also interacted with personnel of the college.

 

 

The Commandant of GAFCSC, Major General (Maj Gen) Matthew Essien, congratulated the CDS on his elevation to the highest rank and appointment in the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and expressed delight for the visit.

 

Maj Gen Essien stated that the visit was significant in strengthening the bonds between the leadership of GAF and the college, which would shape the minds and capabilities of personnel. He noted that the presence of the CDS would serve as a testament to the values GAF places on education, training, and professional development of the Armed Forces.

 

He further stated that the visit would provide an opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions, exchange ideas, and explore other avenues for further collaboration and synergy between the operational and educational realms of GAF.

 

 

Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong-Peprah applauded the Commandant for his efforts in addressing some of the challenges and expressed his pleasure with the project undertaken to improve the facilities of the college.

 

The CDS pledged support from the General Headquarters to provide the requisite resources to the college and promised to appeal to the Control Board to augment the college's efforts. He also instructed that an ambulance vehicle be donated to the GAFCSC Regimental Aid Post and some vehicles to augment the old vehicles.

 

 

Lt Gen Oppong-Peprah encouraged personnel to work as a team, stating that teamwork can tackle challenges and has been crucial to the expansion of GAF. He advised all personnel to bury their differences and stay professional, educating themselves to acquire knowledge that would be impactful and beneficial to mankind as leaders.

 

He further stated that GAF recognizes the extra hours and effort and that it is imperative to reward personnel for going beyond certain periods of time. He appreciated the Directing Staff for helping personnel acquire the necessary knowledge and professionalism to contribute to the maintenance of peace and security in the country and the world at large.
