COURSE 46 CLIMAXES SERVICE WEEK CELEBRATIONS WITH LAND COMBAT AND FIRE POWER DEMONSTRATION

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) exhibited its military strength and capabilities during the Land Combat and Firepower Demonstration held at the Bundase Training Camp.

The exercise, conducted on Friday 1 November 2024, had the 2 Infantry Battalion as the lead unit, with support from various battalions and regiments. Sea and air strategies were provided the Ghana Navy and the Air Force. The exercise served as a practical platform for students of the Senior Command and Staff Course 46 to employ Joint Task Force battle groups in deep, close, and rear operations.

The Guest of Honour, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Frederick Asare Bekoe, described the exercise as essential for the career development of students, with a particular focus on operational concepts and capabilities.

AVM Bekoe encouraged  personnel to uphold their constitutional duties in national defence and emphasised the importance of such exercises in ensuring GAF’s readiness to neutralise and counter insurgencies.

The CAS commended GAF for its internal security initiatives, including Operations Halt, Boafo, Ahodwo, and Calm Life, aimed at preserving peace and stability. He also urged the public to support Ghana’s democratic status and remain vigilant against unpatriotic activities.

Brigadier General Samuel Yeboah Asare, the General Officer Commanding Southern Command, reiterated the GAF's constitutional mandate to defend the territorial integrity of the country and assist civil authorities to maintain internal security. He underlined that the Ghana Army regularly undergoes training to improve its abilities, strategies, and preparedness for new challenges as the primary force in land-based operations. According to him, the Navy and Air Force provided crucial support during the demonstration, which depicted a successful blockade of a fictitious invading force.
