A three-member delegation from the Russian Embassy in Ghana, led by the Counsellor, Her Excellency(H.E) Mrs. Natalia Muzhennikova, paid a courtesy call on the Commandant of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), Major General Jackson Wonje, on Thursday, 15 April 2026, at Otu Barracks,Teshie.
The purpose of the visit was to obtain feedback from the Commandant following their previous engagement and to explore additional avenues for strengthening cooperation between both parties. The visit also provided an opportunity for the Counsellor to deliver a lecture to participants of Senior Command and Staff Course 47 on the topic "Russian Foreign Policy: Impact on Africa."

In her remarks, Her Excellency (H.E) Mrs. Natalia Muzhennikova expressed appreciation to Major General Jackson Wonje for the warm reception and for the opportunity to address the students. She proposed the introduction of the Russian language as part of the course curriculum and sought approval for the Russian Embassy to screen historical documentaries on the Great Patriotic War, the war in Syria amongst others in the College for educational purposes.

Responding, the Commandant, Major General Jackson Wonje thanked the Counsellor for honouring the invitation to lecture at the College. He explained that the College's academic schedule is fully occupied and may not accommodate additional activities in the immediate term, but noted that the proposals could be considered in the future.
Major General Jackson Wonje further indicated his willingness to assist the Embassy in liaising with other military academic institutions, including the Ghana Military Academy (GMA) and the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), should they wish to pursue similar engagements. He also mentioned that discussions are ongoing to determine a suitable date for the screening of the proposed historical documentaries.

Later, the Russian Counsellor deliver a lecture to participants of Senior Command and Staff Course 47 on the topic "Russian Foreign Policy: Impact on Africa outlining areas such as Periodization of the Russian Foreign Policy, Russia-Africa Relations, Cooperation within UN and UNESCO and Why Russia and Africa need each other. The Commandant presented a plaque and a kente stole to the Russian Counsellor as a symbolic gesture from the College.
