The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) has held a commemorative luncheon for former Commandants and international alumni of the institution at the Fletcher Mess, Otu Barracks, Teshie, on Thursday, 2 July 2026, as part of activities marking the College's Golden Jubilee celebrations and 50 years of professional military education.

In his remarks, the Commandant of GAFCSC, Major General Jackson Wonje, said the Golden Jubilee celebrations reflect the College's long-standing contribution to national security, leadership development and professional military education in Ghana and across the African continent.
He stressed that the achievements of the institution were not the result of any single individual, but a collective effort of successive Commandants, Directing Staff, administrative personnel and support teams who have served over the years. He noted that the gathering sought to recognise the vision, commitment and sacrifices of past leaders whose contributions have shaped the college into a respected military academic institution.

The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General William Agyapong, in his keynote address, charged the college to reconsider its leadership course package to recognise indigenous Ghanaian military leaders whose outstanding leadership brought notable achievements and that which can be modelled by future commanders.
In the spirit of recognition of such leaders, Lt Gen Agyapong revealed that the Government had approved the naming of two new barracks at Ajumako and Dambai after Generals Erskine and Anyidoho respectively. The facilities will be known as "Erskine Barracks" and "Fort Anyidoho".
