The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), Senior Command and Staff Course (SCSC) 47, has held a closing ceremony for the Conflict and Crisis Management Course (CCMC) at Hamidu Hall, Teshie, on Friday 10 July 2026.
The 2-week course was designed to expose participants to national capacities for Conflict and Crisis Management (CCM), with the aim of reducing loss of lives and property, minimising human suffering and contributing to the development of a more resilient, safe and secure nation. It also sought to enhance participants' understanding of conflict and internal crisis management to enable them work effectively, efficiently and cohesively in their respective institutions.

The Guest of Honour for the closing ceremony, Most Reverend (Rev) Emmanuel Kofi Fianu, Chairman of the National Peace Council, commended the College for organising the course and urged participants to apply the knowledge and skills acquired to improve CCM within their respective institutions and countries. He noted that conflicts, crises and disasters continue to cause significant disruptions to national development through loss of lives, destruction of property and human suffering. He therefore described capacity building initiatives such as the course as a valuable investment towards preparing leaders to prevent and effectively manage such situations.

Most Rev Fianu further emphasised the importance of collaboration among security agencies, civil society organisations and other stakeholders, stressing that effective conflict and crisis management requires a coordinated approach beyond the efforts of a single institution.
He encouraged participants to maintain the relationships established during the course and uphold high ethical, moral and humanitarian standards in managing resources, applying force, handling information and responding to the needs of affected persons during crisis situations.

He expressed confidence that the knowledge gained, lessons learnt and recommendations from the course would contribute to strengthening national conflict and crisis management frameworks. He congratulated the participants, resource persons and institutions whose contributions ensured the success of the programme before formally declaring the 2026 Conflict and Crisis Management Course closed. External participants were awarded certificates in recognition of their successful completion of the course.
