GAFCSC COURSE 46 AIR FACULTY VISITS GHANA CIVIL AVIATION AUTHORITY

A 28-member delegation from the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) Course 46 Air Faculty paid an educational visit to the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) on Wednesday, 12 March, 2025, at the Kotoka International Airport, Accra.

The delegation comprises 4 directing staff and 23 student officers, 13 of whom are from the Ghana Air Force and 10 from the Nigeria, Namibia, Zambia, and South Africa Air Forces, respectively. The Chief Instructor Air Faculty, Group Captain Bernard Doe Aryee, led the team. The purpose of the visit was to acquaint students of the Air Faculty with the operations of Ghana Civil Aviation regarding air traffic services.

Mr. David Akuamoah-Boateng, the Director of Ghana Civil Aviation Air Traffic Services, welcomed the delegation to their facility. He conveyed his excitement over the presence of the students’ officers exclusively to the allied students from respective African countries. He stated that the Ghana Air Force and Civil Aviation have one of the most cordial relationships and that the two organizations' operations have been well coordinated over the years.

The GCAA Area Controller, Mr. Michael Agbo-Ntibrey, gave the staff and students an informative brief/presentation on the history of civil aviation, its functions, governing bodies, and international regulations.

Others included air traffic services, safety regulations, economic regulations, civil/military coordination activities, emerging new technologies, and challenges of aviation operations, as well as aviation alphabets. Following the briefing, the delegation was given a tour of the GCAA's Watch Tower and Air Traffic Control Centre.

Group Captain Aryee, the leader of the delegation, presented some souvenirs to Mr. Akuamoah-Boateng, Mr. Agbo-Ntibrey, and other staff of GCAA as a token of gratitude on behalf of the Commandant of the College, Maj. Gen. Matthew Essien.
