
GAFCSC MATRICULATES 36 STUDENTS OF MDIP & MSS
The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) has held a matriculation ceremony for 36 weekend students for the Master of Science in Defence and International Politics (MDIP) and Master of Science Degree in Security Studies (MSS) programs on Friday, 7 March 2025, at the Hamidu Hall in Otu Barracks, Teshie.
The ceremony, which is a tradition of the academia, and the admission requirement of the college officially initiated and accepted the Weekend Class of 2025/2026, comprising 33 students of the Master of Science (Msc) in Defence and International Politics (MDIP) and 3 students in the Master of Science in Security Studies (MSS) into the college.
The Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr. Napoleon Kurantin, mentioned in his remarks that it was an honor to witness such a remarkable gathering in unity to experience the 21st Matriculation ceremony of the college, which is a constituent of the National Defence University (NDU).
He again stated that the university is not only interested in achieving academic excellence but also the moral uprightness of students with certain unique and sterling qualities to train students. He advised the students to demonstrate moral integrity, adhere to the college's rules and regulations, and commit fully to their studies and college activities.
In his address, the Commandant of GAFCSC, Major General (Maj Gen) Matthew Essien, welcomed the students and acknowledged the significance of the occasion. He mentioned that the journey throughout the program demands intellectual runout, critical thinking, and a deep sense of responsibility.
He added that the programs are designed to equip students with the tools to navigate the complexities of international politics, defence and security matters.
Maj. Gen. Essien assured students of the college’s commitment in providing a conducive environment that fosters intellectual growth, professional development, and personal transformation that would prepare the students to take up leadership roles in their respective fields and to contribute to the security and stability of the country.
He urged students to approach the course with a sense of purpose and dedication by involving hard work, discipline, and resilience.
