The Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) Senior Command and Staff Course (SCSC) 47 delegation has undertaken a study tour to South Africa as part of its Experiential Learning Package from Monday, 11 May to Friday, 17 May 2026, under the theme "Africa's Defence Industrial Base: Constraints and Progress." .
The visit formed part of the College's Master of Science in Defence and International Politics and Master of Science in Security Studies programmes, under the broader theme of enhancing professional military education and exposure to allied defence institutions. The team was warmly welcomed and hosted by the Defence Attache, Commodore S walker.

As part of the programme, the delegation visited the South African National Command and Staff College as well as Defence War College co-located at St George. The team, accompanied by the Defence Attaché, was received by Brigadier General Z Dauwa, Director of Education, Training and Development, who facilitated engagements and presentations on South African foreign policy, defence strategy and policy, as well as the structure and operations of the South African National War College. The interactions provided participants with comparative insights into defence education systems and strategic policy development.

The delegation also interacted with alumni of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College, including a former South African Directing Staff to GAFCSC. The team also visited the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), which was into defence industry research and production of defence equipment. The team also visited Paramount company, where other defence industries such as Denel, Armscod, among others, came to brief and interacted with students about defence industry. These companies are into producing military equipment and logistics, including armoured vehicles, aircrafts, and ships.

The Ghana High Commissioner to South Africa, HE Benjamin Kofi Quashie also met the team & interacted with them. The team returned to Ghana on 16 May 26.
