SENIOR COMMAND AND STAFF COURSE 47 VISITS GHANA AIR FORCE BASE ACCRA

The students of the Senior Command and Staff Course 47 of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) visited the Ghana Air Force Base, Accra, on Thursday, 30 October 2025, at 1200 hours. The visit is part of activities marking the Air Force Combat Week.

The visit formed part of the students’ study tour to gain a deeper understanding of the structure, operations, and role of the Ghana Air Force within the Ghana Armed Forces. It also aimed to strengthen inter-service cooperation and professional learning among future senior officers.

On arrival at the Base, the leader of the delegation paid a courtesy call on the Base Commander, where both officers discussed the importance of joint operations and training among the Services. The Base Commander welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for their visit, noting that such engagements help promote cooperation and mutual understanding between the various arms of the Armed Forces.

A presentation session was held at the J.O. Lamptey Hall, where Squadron Leader Raphael Anane briefed the students on the organisation, functions and operational roles of the Air Force Base, Accra. His presentation covered key areas such as air operations, logistics support, personnel management and the Air Force’s contribution to national security and peacekeeping efforts.

The visit also included a guided tour of the Air Force Base, where the students were shown the main operational and administrative units. They were briefed on airfield operations, maintenance facilities and the coordination of flight missions.

The students expressed appreciation for the warm reception and the valuable insights gained during the visit. They noted that the experience would enrich their understanding of the Air Force’s operational environment and enhance their future leadership roles within the Ghana Armed Forces and armed forces of allied countries whose officers were participating in the course.

The visit ended on a positive note, highlighting the importance of joint collaboration among the Army, Navy and Air Force in safeguarding national security.
