A delegation from the Zambian Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), led by Colonel Tyndal Hamane, visited the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) on Thursday, 2 October 2025, as part of their study tour to Ghana. Accompanying the delegation was Brigadier General Derick Mwendaofyo. The leader of the delegation paid a courtesy call on the Acting Commandant of GAFCSC, Brigadier General Jackson Wonje, as part of a working visit to the institution. A central brief was held for the delegation.

The visit, which formed part of a study tour programme, was aimed at strengthening the existing bonds of cooperation between Ghana and Zambia while exploring opportunities for collaboration in defence education and capacity building.

Brigadier General Wonje, in welcoming the delegation, commended the Zambian Armed Forces for their continued efforts in contributing to peace and security in Africa. He also highlighted the role of GAFCSC in shaping professional military education on the African continent. According to him, the College has, over the years, served as a centre of excellence in training senior officers and fostering international defence cooperation.

Colonel Hamane, in her remarks, expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded the delegation. She emphasised that the visit was an opportunity to learn from GAFCSC’s academic and training models as well as a platform to deepen the relationship between the two countries’ armed forces.

During the briefing session, the delegation was taken through GAFCSC’s core mandate in building capacity for regional security, enhancing leadership skills and promoting professional military education. The College’s emphasis on joint operations, inter-agency cooperation and multinational engagement was noted as a vital contribution to Africa’s collective security framework.

The exchange underscored the importance of defence diplomacy in addressing contemporary security challenges facing the continent. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining cooperation and exploring future partnerships in training, research and peace operations.

The visit concluded with a tour of selected facilities at GAFCSC, providing the delegation with firsthand insight into the College’s learning environment and infrastructure.
